6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin —7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
-Romans 6: 6-7
October 28, 29, 30, 2011 -Encountering God Retreat
That was the day of our church’s retreat. Months have passed since that very memorable day, but I can still feel the fire of the Holy Spirit that burns and dwells in me.The photo shows the representation of the nail used in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The red part on the end is just paint. This nail is also given to every delegate of the retreat.
I remember the pastor told us to pierce it through our palms and feet. We have to pierce it hard enough for us to feel how painful a crucifixion could be. And I realized, we could never bear the pain. We wont even bear to have small cuts on our skin.
But Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of us. He went through such pain so we could not feel the sufferings anymore and receive the gift of Salvation. We are saved by grace. All of the curses, diseases, and sins are cancelled when Jesus died on the cross. As it was said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
It is more like of a souvenir. That every time this world reminds me of what am I in the past, this nail tells me I am a new person and I am crucified with Christ. And I have a new life because I have also risen with Him when He rose from the dead. :)
You can also be new with Christ. No matter how filthy you think you are with sins, God is willing to forgive you. Confessing and Surrendering is the key. God always waits for us to turn to Him and never get sinned again.
If you want to receive Christ in your life right now, pray that God shall open your heart and receive Him. GOD BLESS YOU!:D
